    Ohio as America Professional Development Institute 

    Dates: July 31, 2017 - August 1, 2017 

    Grade: 4th Grade

    Contact Hours: 5 per day 

    Location: Ohio History Center- 800 E. 17th Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43211

    Cost: 1 Day: $75    2 Days: $125    Field Trips: $25 each (Statehouse/Newark Earthworks) 

    Educators can choose from a wide variety of hands-on activities and sessions that will explore topics related to basic textbook navigation, blended learning, tech basics, historical thinking skills, the A.I.R. assessments, project-based learning, digital literacy and more.

    Ohio as America Professional Development Institute Proposal Submissions 

    The Ohio as America Professional Development Institute is designed to provide 4th grade social studies teachers using Ohio as America with additional hands-on activities, resources and materials they can utilize in their classroom. Possible session topics include innovative ways to integrate Ohio as America into the classroom, blended learning, historical thinking skills, financial literacy, the A.I.R. assessments, project-based learning, and digital literacy. 

    *Educators, curriculum coordinators and content experts are encouraged to apply 

    *All  presenters must utilize Ohio as America in their session 

    *All sessions will be 1 hour

    *Submission proposals are Due by February 15, 2017

    *Presenters will recieve free admission to the PD Institute

    District Professional Development Workshops

        2 hr. $20 per teacher + mileage* 

        4 hr. $40 per teacher + mileage*

    *Franklin Country Schools will be excluded from paying mileage.

    We require a minimum of five teachers per Workshop. Each Workshop may not exceed 30 teachers.

    Presented by: Matthew Schulleck, Distance Learning Coordinator

    Matthew Schulleck, Distance Learning Coordinator, defines Distance Learning (DL) and discusses the benefits of participating in DL programming. He also reviews equipment requirements for running a DL program, and the variety of DL programs and resources offered by the Ohio History Connection, and other institutions in Ohio and across the country.
